On May 5, 2022, the UGC, the Indian higher education authority, issued new rules allowing dual degrees between Indian universities and foreign institutions.

This decision represents a real step forward because Indian universities were not authorized to set up double degrees with international institutions until now.

  • The courses must be delivered face-to-face

  • Foreign institutions have to be ranked within the top 1000 in the QS or Times Higher Education rankings.

For all other institutions, gray areas remain.
